Welcome to the Farber Lab!

Donna L. Farber, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator

The Farber Lab is located in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Farber is in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. The lab's research is focused on defining how the immune system responds to pathogens and maintains homeostasis with age. We are particularly interested in understanding how the immune response is localized in tissue sites, and how T lymphocytes resident within tissues develop and maintain immunological memory to infection and vaccines.

The main goals of the laboratory are to:

  1. Conduct fundamental research in immunology to understand how the immune system responds to infections and
maintains tissue homeostasis important for improving human health and longevity

  2. Train the next generation of scientists and engage in scientific collaborations and outreach.
